Course Overview
The Grade 2 Social Studies course expands students’ understanding of communities and the relationships that shape them. Building on prior learning, students explore how people interact with their environment while developing a stronger awareness of belonging, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
Learners examine diverse communities and consider how geographic features, local resources, and human activities influence the way people live. Through guided inquiry, students begin recognizing that communities are interconnected and that individual actions contribute to collective wellbeing.

- No prerequisites are required for elementary courses
- Ontario elementary programs do not issue transcript credits

Students strengthen spatial awareness by learning how maps represent physical spaces. They practice identifying locations, interpreting symbols, and describing relative distance to better understand how people navigate their environments.
Responsible Citizenship

As a fully online course, Grade 2 Social Studies does not rely on a traditional textbook. Students engage with digital tools alongside hands on materials that support exploration and inquiry.
